Intermittent fasting

Is it a religious thing?
What does it do and how does it work?
Circadian rhythm just gets in my way!!

Hello team, I bet you are asking; “Why on earth do I need to learn about Intermittent fasting and is it just one of these new trends that is going to fade out in a few years?”

Fasting itself has been around for thousands of years and is practised in most religions. Researches have only recently begun to dig deeper into the actual benefits of fasting.

Now you are hearing of Fasting being used in the health and fitness industry. Our bodies need a certain amount of calories to survive healthily in a state of rest. This can be used from excess energy storage in our bodies or by eating food.

What is intermittent fasting and how does it work?

Intermittent fasting is not a diet but more of a dieting pattern. Humans normal circadian rhythms start off with our waking up in the morning, living our day and then finishing off with going back to sleep.

During this 24hours the human body is fed on food. Our bodies are like a processing plant. There are many different functions breaking down muscle tissues and repairing them to make new ones.

Here is the important bit.

If you exercise correctly you will see these new tissues are repaired stronger than the old ones and run more efficiently. When you start adding the correct food to your body this process of regeneration is enhanced DRASTICALLY.

Some of the by-products from food left in the body for too long can have a poisonous and damaging effect to these muscle tissues. Our bodies’ deal with this process every single day by the type of foods we eat and the type of exercises we do.

Just like many people try to detox from a drug, dairy product etc.; intermittent fasting gives your the body a break from these by-products by changing the pattern that the food goes into our system. For example, skipping a meal or a full 24hour fast. There are many different combinations with variant benefits. Eating a big meal after exercise and much smaller meals when you are not training.

When your bodies storage of energy from food are depleted from fasting in any way, your next meal is processed and stored very efficiently and less excess fat storage occurs. This is also relevant when doing exercise after fasting. When your body has low energy storage and you exercise, your body is forced to adapt and will access its fat cells for new energy.

Our bodies are so super fascinating and have such amazingly complex systems. Intermittent Fasting has given us a small insight on how to utilize these systems in more efficient ways.

Just as too much of anything can be bad for you, remember too little of the nutrients your body needs can lead to many problems.
