02 Jun TCL Podcast Ep. 20 – Zeke Grove – CrossFit Games Bound
This week we’re joined by first time CrossFit Games Athlete Zeke Grove. Since Zeke’s debut at Regionals he has always been an incredibly threatening athlete, placing within the top 10 in 2014 & 2015. This year Zeke proved his potential and placed 4th, earning himself a spot at the 2016 CrossFit Games
Zeke’s an incredibly humble being who likes to stay out of the limelight. He’s content that he owes his excellent year at regionals to finding a better balance in life. Recently being married, learning to surf and bringing the fun back into his training have been the best things Zeke could do to be a successful athlete this year. Zeke takes an “everything in moderation” approach, and finds restricting things creates too much desire, which in turn breaks him – coming back to the balance concept.
We cover off on Zeke’s prep for Regionals, as well as the changes being made to prep for the Games. With prep for the Games includes athletes having to travel to the States weeks before the event. The cost of living/renting of a car and general care can be quite the burden and something that weighs an athlete down. Zeke’s Sponsors’ 21 Fifteen 9 have organised 3 events around Australia to help raise funds for him and fellow Games competitor Maddie Sturt to get to the Games.
These events will be held at Gold Coast, Newcastle and Melbourne in the upcoming weeks. For more info visit http://2115nine.com/collections/games-fundraiser
