07 Dec #99 – Andrew Marr – Recovering From PTSD
On this episode we’re joined by Andrew Marr. Andrew divulges his tie with the US Military and how although he was physically unscathed he was a broken man inside. He explains how the buildup of training drills, as well as real life battles and his one and only experience in which he was knocked unconscious from an explosion in battle lead to the buildup of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
After self-medicating with alcohol and being prescribed every antidepressant and pain drug under the sun Andrew decided there had to be a better way. He began searching for help and was fortunate to come into contact with a doctor who got to work immediately. Andrew has now weened himself off of all medication and is a highly thriving individual.
After helping himself Andrew got to work on helping the rest of the community who were suffering from PTSD. He has started The Warrior Angels Foundation to help raise funds and deliver the care and support needed for these individuals. Each person gets an individualized treatment catered to themselves to ensure the best results.
Andrew has also written a book “Tales From The Blast Factory, A Brain Injured Special Forces Green Beret’s Journey From The Brink” This will soon be available on amazon but for the time being you can get your copy of the book at Andrews website: https://talesfromtheblastfactory.com/earlycopy
